Manhattan Irish Fest was founded in 1995, by Tim & Mary McGrath and Mike & Mary McHugh, who proposed the idea of a festival celebrating the town’s Irish heritage to the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. The chamber, looking to increase the exposure to the town, wholeheartedly adopted the idea.

Over seventy-five top galleries from around the world will present paper-based art that explores, expands, and re-imagines the boundaries of what a work on paper can be alongside an innovative program of installations and special projects that will activate the fair’s public spaces.

Beginning in October, museum admission and gallery programs will be free from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first Friday evening of the month (except January). Visitors will have access to the permanent collection and special exhibition galleries, and enjoy talks and lectures by museum educators and curators, as well as music and dance performances and open sketching in the Garden Court (complimentary materials provided by the Frick).
