The Seaport District NYC and Chase Sapphire® present The Seaport Summer Concert Series as part of their summer programming. The free two-part live music event will take place outdoors in the heart of the neighborhood on Fulton Street on July 4th and August 3rd. Curated by Blue Note, the first concert will feature headliner David Sanborn, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Maurice “Mobetta” Brown. The second concert will showcase a line-up of artists curated by Glassnote Records including snny and Baio, followed by headliner Robert DeLong.

Three avid urban cyclist will discuss riding your bicycle safely on the congested streets of New York City offering tips and know how in getting around the city by bicycle. Touching on topics as commuting to work, riding your bicycle to earned income, cycling in competitive sports and some of the challenges women riders face in the city. The discussion will also include social communities build around cycling and the emergent of urban cycling in popular culture through films and fashion. After the discussion there will be an opportunity to asked panelist questions.

7:00pm     Bad Advice from Bad Women Spoken Word Free

Ruby Brunton is a New Zealand-raised writer, poet and performer who now lives in Brooklyn. She’s had poems in 4 Poets, Hobart, Witchcraft and Metatron where she is the New York coordinator, and essays in Hazlitt, Real Life, The New Inquiry and Mask Magazine where she is a contributing editor. She spends a lot of time thinking about intimacy, resistance, how to create community and education alternatives.

On Thursday nights in July and August, members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York will set up hi-powered telescopes for stargazing sessions that are free and open to the public. Weather permitting.

10:30pm    Outdoor Movie Night: Big Lebowski Free

Fans will accessorize their bowling shirts and bathrobes with headphones at this open-air silent screening of the Coen Brothers cult comedy, an absurd tale of mistaken identity, bowling, White Russians, anger management issues, kidnapping, pornography, nihilists, and, of course, His Dudeness, all while gathered together under the stars in Damrosch Park.
